MONSTER BALL | Costume & Safety Policy

COSTUME AND PROP POLICY

Costumes are encouraged at Monster Ball. This policy exists to keep the event safe, welcoming, and comfortable for everyone.

Please review the complete policy before choosing or bringing a costume, mask, prop, or costume accessory. Event staff have final authority over what may enter or remain inside the venue.

Identification and Face Coverings

Masks, helmets, prosthetics, makeup, contact lenses, and other costume elements must not prevent event staff or alcohol-service personnel from confirming a guest’s identity.

Guests must remove masks, helmets, or other face coverings during entry, identification checks, alcohol service, and whenever requested by authorized staff.

A costume does not replace the requirement to present a valid, government-issued photo ID. Guests whose identity or age cannot be verified may be denied entry or alcohol service.

Weapons and Weapon-Like Props

Weapons are not permitted at Monster Ball.

Prohibited items include real, replica, simulated, or costume versions of firearms, knives, swords, axes, clubs, bats, projectiles, bows, arrows, explosives, or any other item that could reasonably be mistaken for a weapon or used to cause injury.

Sharp, pointed, bladed, heavy, rigid, functional, or projectile-firing props are prohibited. This policy applies regardless of permits, licenses, costume context, or whether the item is described as decorative.

Guests arriving with a prohibited item must return it to their vehicle or remove it from the property before entering. Event staff cannot store prohibited items.

Visibility and Movement

Costumes must allow the wearer to see, hear, breathe, walk, use stairs, and respond to staff instructions safely.

Costumes may not block aisles, exits, doorways, walkways, service areas, or the dance floor. Oversized costumes, rigid wings, long trains, large tails, stilts, skates, wheeled footwear, or other elements that create a trip, collision, or crowd hazard are not permitted.

Soft wings, capes, tails, and similar costume elements are allowed only when they remain under the wearer’s control and do not interfere with other guests.

Fire and Venue Safety

Open flames, lit candles, pyrotechnics, fireworks, sparklers, smoke devices, fog devices, incense, burning materials, and heat-producing costume elements are prohibited.

Costume lights and electronics must be battery-powered, securely attached, and in safe working condition. Exposed wiring, leaking batteries, or equipment that becomes excessively hot is not permitted.

Costumes should be made from flame-resistant materials whenever practical.

Mess-Producing Materials

Loose glitter, confetti, powders, liquids, fake blood that may drip or transfer, silly string, aerosols, paint, slime, and other materials that may damage the venue, create a slipping hazard, or affect other guests are prohibited.

Conduct, Consent, and Respect

A costume does not give anyone permission to touch, grab, photograph, record, or interact with another guest without consent.

Costumes may not include hate symbols, targeted slurs, discriminatory imagery, realistic depictions of violence intended to threaten others, exposed genitals, or content that event staff determines creates an unsafe or hostile environment.

Costumes that could reasonably cause a guest to be mistaken for event security, law enforcement, emergency personnel, or authorized event staff are not permitted.

Staff Authority

Event staff may inspect any costume or prop and may require an item to be removed, modified, secured, returned to a vehicle, or taken off the property.

Final decisions regarding costume and prop safety belong to the organizer, venue, security personnel, and authorized event staff.

Refusal to comply with this policy may result in denied entry or removal from the event without a refund.
